Lunar is a true TEMKO project. Based on a rather dark history of Italian Futurist I started writing this piece after a quote of Marinetti: ‘we have to kill the moonlight’. I’ve always been obsessed by the cyclical quality waxing and waning of the moon. In music these can be translated into rhythmical patterns that repeat without noticing, something we investigate with TEMKO since the very beginning of the ensemble.
This truly is a work under construction, every time we touch the material I want to dig slightly deeper, stretching parts, deleting movements and make it a piece somewhat like Philip Glass’ music in 12 parts: hypnotic, ungraspable but endlessly captivating.
